Fourth Cake

this is the cake I made for the Fourth of July

 blueberries and strawberries yum

Red white and blue inside and out
little miss wanted in on the decorating fun so
I gave her her own cake to decorate
I think she did a good job
she was so proud she wanted to take her cake to
Papa's too

Rainbow cake

sorry these posts are a little allove the place while I am catching up to today, here is the rainbow cake I made for a Saint Patricks Day party we had this year...

This cake was a lot of fun to make and really
it was more time consuming then it was difficult
it basically involved dying each layer as batter then slowly
building the cake it was yummy too

Hooloovoo

and since this blog is called rum and cake perhaps its time to add a drink or two...

This drink is one of hubbys favorites to drink and to make it's called a
Hooloovoo which is a hyperintelligent shade of the
colour blue from HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy

The recipe is:

1 part blue curacao
2 parts vodka
3 parts lemonade
shaken and poured over ice.

Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo we were invited to a friends party
so I decided I just had to try these Piniata Cookies
I saw on Tablespoon.com

Simple sugar cookie colored and layered to look like a
piniata
Then filled with mini M&M's

They where so good and so much fun to make

The Things We Do

The first post!  I am never quite sure what to put in here but I supposed we could start with a little background:
I am a stay at home mom of two and have always loved to cook and create, but as of late I have found a great deal of fun in baking; I love to make birthday cakes, cookies, crisps and cobblers, but my most favorite thing as of late to make is cake pops.
My husband is an engineer, and while that may have stunted his creativity, he has always loved to mix drinks.  Recently, we’ve been having friends over regularly, which gives him the opportunity to tend bar.  He’s been taking advantage of having regular testers to try new recipes and do a little experimenting.
We’ve really been enjoying the creation and experimentation and thought that it would be fun be able to share some of our creations with everyone.
